Indian Law or Tooth-less Naani

Over a span of two weeks we see two land mark Judgements on two high profile "Celebrities" The first one was Salman Khan's Hit and Run Case. The second was Jaya Lalitha's Case on misappropriate assets.

Salman Khan was sentenced to a 5 year imprisonment for drink and drive case where in our infamous hero kills in Civilians graciously sleeping on the streets of Mumbai. The Judgement is passed only to get dismissed within 48 hours and the actor manages to get a bail within couple of hours in pure Dabangg ishtyle.

The second is our infamous Amma - "Selvi" - Jayalalitha. The whole world knows the amount of wealth heaped at her foot steps. The lower court sentences her for a 4 year imprisonment only to be aquitted to be declared as a "Saint" by non other than the Karnataka High Court.

And this happens in naked day-light amidst the Judicial system meant to be created for our Civilized society. The repercussions may not be felt immediately out of the above 2 cases. But the fact that our Judicial system loosing its tooth when it was most needed, is a warning put forth to the society that the Justice system is biased for the rich and the poor.

The present federal Justice system that was formulated by our fore fathers was intended to make the practice of justice a part of every citizens daily life. Unfortunately the Judiciary has been unable to connect with its own civilians. Added to that, the above to judgements deteriorate the already fading trust on the Citizens on the present Justice.

If we can get away with any crime with being rich and famous, what alternatives do we have. The only other way to punish would be the methods of citizens taking the law on there own hands. Will that be appropriate to our Judicial Pandits... Well if not then they should prove by acting on the principles that they have taken oath to protect. Else for now at-least.. The Law remains a toothless Naani..

Rahul is still not my Hero

The Congress is potraying Rahul [Gandhi] as a come back Hero. I am also reading blogs written by Congress men like Mani Shankar Iyer who had appreciated the latest debate in the Parliaments that Rahul did speak in favour of the poor,  comparing him to the Father of our Nation. Mani is a rare  Congress-Men and should spend his effort in representing the peoples views on the grass roots . but I dont understand where the loyalties tilt in the congress. Is it to the Ideals of the Party or the obligations to endorse a Czar family which has been disconnected from the realities of socail life.

Definitely Rahul required a break, after all he was totally bruised . But the hype that is being created for is sudden disappearance, which again I felt was expected :) and reappearing on the parliament debate criticising Modi for his "pro rich reforms". Is seen as Rocky punching back in the end rounds.

The local media hyped him as saying he was doing Yoga and meditation to understand the sensitivities of the people. They also commented that he travelled in second class in train. Rahul, from a Family who had 3 Prime ministers, would really have difficulty in connecting with the people? He wouldn’t have required any mentoring on subjects like leaderships and social politics. Unless he really wanted to...

Mahathma Gandhi who had been in South Africa fighting against the racial discrimination had to travel extensively in India before  venturing into active social life. He was dealing with a different set of problems unlike in South Africa. Nehru being the rich guy and totally disconnected with the ground realities took refuge of Gandhi as his Guru. Which also makes sense!!

I feel Rahul is still that reluctant guy who is forced to take the mantle of leadership and party politics. What is required here for him is a honest introspection and soul searching of what he really wants to do in life.

If we are to serve this country, politics is not the only channel. if we are to be a leader, politics is again not the only platform!!

And another one!!

Another protest will trigger, and another 1000 candles will burn, the media gets an another  beefy story to roll-over for another couple of weeks. The sessions in parliaments will be hauled, marches will be preceded.. condolences, anguish, blame game, investigations, prosecutions, capital punishments.. human rights.. and Vollah.. Justice will be prevailed. Only until the next TIME.

lets get to the details. A lady gets gang-raped a couple of years back. And then a reporter gets again raped in a train, and another nun and another tourist and another gal. Endless!! Latest is a gal in Punjab molested and thrown out of the bus. Looks like our buses are the most convenient places for barbaric crimes!!

What follows next.. is the compensation package, another set of amendments to the already forbidden Constitution!! strict laws.. another wave of feminism in the country which swears to hate men more than ever blah blah..

The reason the way we talk is because the way we hear from others. And the reason way we think is because the way we are taught to perceive things in the name of culture  The reason why we are the way we are is because the way had brought up..

My question is can we at least change this!!!
